	16 days of activism in Kakanj
.	Forum of women of SDP Kakanj and NGO „Alternative“ Kakanj participate jointly in the implementation of the campaign “16 days of activism for the elimination of gender-based violence”. The plan of the campaign activities has been prepared and announced in local media.
	Date: 25.11.2009. (Wednesday) Description of activities: marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women – announcement of the campaign through local media, web pages and placards. The placards with the campaign slogan: DEDICATE * ACT * REQUEST: WE CAN PREVENT VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN will be placed at visible spots in all 37 local communities of Kakanj municipality. Besides, the campaign-related announcements will be published by local printed and electronic media and our web site. Date: 29.11. 2009. (Sunday), 10:00 – 13:00 Description of activities: marking the International Day of Women Human Rights Defenders We will organize seminars which women activists from other organizations will be invited to participate in. Workshop introduction will provide information on women human rights defenders and on the state of human rights in BiH. Subsequently, we will conduct SWOT analysis of the state of human rights at local level (Kakanj municipality) and propose steps to lobby for: 1. incorporation of “16 days of activism against gender-based violence” into the calendar of event in Kakanj municipality 2. planning budget funds for promotion and protection of human rights 3. establishing the Committee for gender equality in Kakanj municipality Note: The funds intended for NGOs do not include activities focused on human rights as they are not on the list of priorities. Forum of women of SDP Kakanj and NGO „Alternative“ Kakanj intend to change such a situation. As a result of the seminar we expect the Proclamation of 16 days of activism against gender-based violence to be updated with relevant information at state and local level, adoption of the letter to municipal mayor and municipal council and defining the requests to plan budget funds for protection and promotion of human rights as well as requests to establish the committee for gender equality in Kakanj municipality. Seminar themes include 3 of 4 key campaign requests: - Support women human rights defenders! - Stop violence against women! - Finance gender equality! All requests are limited to the level of local community. The requests have been formulated by the Center for global women leadership in the previous year and are relevant to this year campaign. Date: 05.12. 2009. (Saturday), 17:00 – 20:00 Description of activities: Women Volunteers’ Day We will organize a workshop on voluntarism where we will establish the Board made up of members of all women-based associations and set criteria for the selection of the most successful women volunteer. Note: as part of the next year’s Women Volunteers’ Day and 16 days of activism campaign we will provide awards to the most successful women volunteers at local community level. Date: 10.12. 2009.
